BCCM/MUCL: New Director Appointed

Last July, Professor Anne-Marie Corbisier-Colson (right) became the director of BCCM(tm)/MUCL, following on smoothly from Professor Grégoire Hennebert, who continues to assist BCCM(tm)/MUCL enthusiastically in its day-to-day activities.

The new director, a specialist in the molecular genetics of the mitochondrial respiratory chain, teaches physiology and morphology of fungi, as well as the microbial genetics of lower Eukaryotes, at the Université catholique de Louvain (UCL). Before taking up her new responsibilities, Professor Corbisier-Colson was Senior Researcher for the National Fund for Scientific Research (Belgium).

She worked first (1977-1980) in the laboratory of Professor André Goffeau, the co-ordinator of the European Yeast Genome Project based at the UCL, and then subsequently in the Genetics Laboratory (1980-1995).
