ICOTA 2007

Antarctic
Polar Zone: Terre Adélie coastal area
Begin date: 28 December 2006 – end date: 27 January 200

  • Title: ICOTA cruise (Coastal Ichthyology in Terre Adélie)
  • Summary: Carried out within the framework of the ICOTA and PELAGANT projects, the overall objective of the cruise is to improve understanding of the control of Antarctic pelagic biodiversity and fish recruitment by environmental factors. It will contribute to determine how the timing of plankton production and spatial dynamics of planktonic key species relates to the survival of planktivorous fish stages and to the distribution patterns of fish communities and populations. ICOTA programme is funded by the French Polar Institute (IPEV) and is associated to the Census of Antarctic Marine Life and the International Polar Year.
