• Summary: This cruise was mostly dedicated to validation of satellite sea ice data and in particular: Aqua AMSR-E, ADEOS-II/AMSR, RADARSAT SAR, ERS-2 AMI, Landsat-7 ETM+, ADEOS-II GLI, Terra and Aqua MODIS, AVHRR Pathfinder.

Belgian projects

• Title:
  - BELCANTO I - An Integrated Approach to Assess Carbon Dynamics in the Southern Ocean
  - Sibclim - Sea Ice Biogeochemistry in a CLImate change perspective
• Summary: We investigated the dynamics of climatically active gases and key nutrients, micro-nutrients, algae and microbial communities within sea ice. We tested new methods for iron sampling within sea ice.
  Also, we carried out underway measurement of CO2 in early spring in both open and ice-covered Southern Ocean (Indian Sector)
