The aim of the project is to provide and analyse the first quantitative paleoseismological data for some recently very active faults at the periphery of the Rhodope Mountain. The data are collected by geophysical studies, trenching and studies of the speleothems. The data obtained are compared to the historical seismicity and special studies are emphasised for dating the paleoseismological events as well for determination of their magnitudes. The final results will be the evaluation of the recurrence time of strong events, related to the concrete fault segments.
