Census atlas

Description :

OBJECTIVES

To produce a census atlas

TASKS

1. Designing the census atlas and producing synthetic maps

In the framework of exploiting socio-economic data, the various monographs will contain some analytical maps with various variables.
In addition to the analytical maps, the atlas will contain synthetic maps, making it possible to reduce somewhat the volume of this work and to better apprehend the aspects studied and the relationships between them. The A3 format is required. The atlas may serve as a tool synthesising each monograph, not only through its mapping approach but also more generally through pooling of the contents of the various monographs.
The atlas's spatial presentation is dual: the data are presented at municipality scale on the one hand, and at statistical sector scale for the major urban centres (Brussels, Antwerp, Ghent, Liège, Charleroi).

2. Relations between the authors of the monographs and atlas

The authors of the various monographs will communicate their data to the authors of the atlas. The atlas project leaders will contact the people in charge of the various monographs. They will seek to produce a homogeneous whole as regards mapping and commentary; this applies both to the graphics used and to the content. Specific recommendations will be addressed to the various authors.
