Research project MO/40/003 (Research action MO)
A stock was drawn up of a total of 83 works from the south of the Netherlands in the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium. The “Hieronymus Bosch”, “Albrecht Bouts”, “Gerard David”, “Colijn de Coter” and “Goossen van der Weyden” groups were dealt with in a previous contract (MO/40/001). During this contract, the study of the remaining works was continued according to the same methods applied earlier. The results have been published in volume III: C. STROO, P. SYFER-d’OLNE, A. DUBOIS, R. SLACHMUYLDERS, N. TOUSSAINT, The Flemish Primitives III. The Hieronymus Bosch, Albrecht Bouts, Gerard David, Colijn de Coter and Goossen van der Weyden Groups. Catalogue of Early Netherlandish Painting in the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium, Brussels.
The preparation of catalogue volume IV was started. This part of the book includes the works of the masters with provisional names: the Master of 1473, the Master of the St. Ursula Legend, the Master of the St. Lucy Legend, the Master of the St. Barbara Legend, the Master of the St. Catherine Legend, the Master of the View of Saint Gudule, the Master of the Orsoy altarpiece, the Master of the Joseph Sequence and the Master of the Magdalene Legend.
