Description :

The target group of this research project is the Belgian nobility, a social group for which engagement in public life is inherent. The object of this study is the engagement of the members of this group in political life during the interwar period and subsequently during the German occupation. These engagements will be studied in their global historical and ideological context : the aftermath of the Great War, the moral, political and social life, their adhesion of the interwar period, the role of the nobility in local political and social life, their adhesion to Rex, royalism, patriotism, religion, war (catalyst of all passions), the resistance, the collaboration and the afterwar period. Based on research on the role of the nobility in the resistance, the issue will be extended to the period 1918-1950, including all types of engagements of the target group.
