Research project NO/B/014 (Research action NO)

Persons :

  • De Heer  VYNCKE Johan - Belgian Building Research Institute (BBRI)
    Financed belgian partner
    Duration: 1/4/1996-31/3/1999
  • Prof. dr.  SPEHL Pierre - Bureau de Controle Technique de la Construction (SECO)
    Financed belgian partner
    Duration: 1/4/1996-31/3/1999

Description :

To make the necessary preparations for establishing standards for the following subjects:

1. Defining criteria for vibration levels appropriate to the safety of buildings and their comfort and suitability for the use to which they will be put (buildings and civil engineering).

2. On site measurement methods for vibration levels to express the vibration parameters for completed buildings and to be complied with in calculating estimates.

3. Methods for estimating vibration levels by calculation in construction projects.

4. Laboratory measurement methods for the dynamics of materials and anti-vibration insulation systems for use in calculations.

To clarify, specify and harmonize the approaches currently followed and eliminate the divergences and uncertainties of interpretation with a view to submitting adequately simple, rigorous and reliable pre-standards suitable for practical on-site use in construction to the BIN and the CEN.
