Research project NP/DD/07 (Research action NP)

Persons :

Description :

The project aims to build a national research network in order to establish a general inventory of the economical, sociological and agronomical indicators relevant for a sustainable development of agriculture. The national network is composed with: two teams of general agronomists (one in the North and the other in the South of the Country), one team of sociologists, one team of economists, and one team of civil engineers specialized in the system approach modelisation. This research will be based on the results of the European researches, mainly those made by the E/IAFS group (Research Network for EU and Associated Countries on Integrated and Ecological Arable Farming Systems), and on literature investigations. This indicators inventory will be added to the legal and experimental norms devoted to assume the sustainable development of agriculture in the domain of phytotechny, of environment, of economy and of sociology. The experimental norms will be scientifically evaluated on the base of a literature review.

A set of indicators relevant for the Belgian condition for the most representatives farms (mixed farms) will be chosen. This set of indicators should permit to evaluate a farm regarding the major objectives of the sustainable development (economy, environment, social recognition, productivity).
