Research project PE/ES/07 (Research action PE)

Persons :

Description :

The main mission of a resource centre in health economics is:
- to give interested users access to computerised data useful for the economic analysis of the health system and/or for rational management of sub-systems and
- to analyse and process these tools, so as to give real added value to knowledge, understanding, and decision-making in the area of health.

Among the possible tasks of this resource centre, we can mention:
1 Constitution of a document base (creation of a thesaurus, literature, ...)
2 Analysis of data bases and processing of the data according to strategic indicators of the system:
- hospital accounting data
- structural characteristics of hospitals and annual surveys
- consumption data from the INAMI
- consumption data from the Ministry of Public Health
- data base on primary disablement
- data base of staff, graduates, and students in the health sector: the supply
- links between data bases.
3 Insertion of the data into a health data system
(close synergy with the "Society and Health" resource centre),
4 Establishing performance indicators for use by the various actors of the health system;
5 Constitution of national health accounting figures.
