3D visualization of particle flow in a Hele-Shaw cell for a parabolic flight campaign

Research project PX/8/LP/05 (Research action PX)

Persons :

  • Prof. dr.  DUBOIS Frank - Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB)
    Coordinator of the project
    Financed belgian partner
    Duration: 1/1/2005-31/12/2005

Description :

The objective of the project is to investigate, in parabolic flights, separation devices for biological species that are traveling in a flow. The project involves the separation device with the accompanying fluid management equipment and the optical measuring system based on a digital holographic microscope. The role of the Microgravity Research Centre is the development of the digital holographic microscope and of the related driving and processing software. A first parabolic flight campaign will be hold on November 2004. A flight microscope has been realized and the present project is related to the data analysis and the eventual hardware improvements for a new parabolic flight campaign in 2005.
