Observation and modelling of FUV aurora and magnetosphere-ionosphere-atmosphere coupling in the giant planets

Description :

We plan to investigate auroral morphology and physical processes leading to auroral precipitation in giant planets’ atmospheres using HST, Cassini and FUSE ultraviolet imaging and spectroscopy. This programme will take advantage of the expertise built over the last 15 years in auroral image analysis and modelling of effects of auroral precipitation on the atmospheric structure.
