Project summary
The research proposal aims to evaluate the feasability of the CASI2-SWIR sensors for the detection of heavy metals in solid matrices and for the registration of effects of heavy metals on plants. The possibility of quantifying contaminant concentrations will be evaluated by comparing the reflectance spectra with contaminant levels measured with the existing chemical analysis techniques (i.e., total metal analysis with ICP-AES and XRF). Test plants for the evaluation of stress of heavy metal contamination on plants will be evaluated for birch (Betula pendula) and pine (Pinus silvestris).
