Individual employment histories in Belgium: an exploratory analysis

Research project SO/10/039 (Research action SO)

Persons :

Description :

The measures adopted in Belgium aiming at alleviating labour costs and stimulating job search are many and varied (in terms of targeting and whether they are temporary or not). We assess them from two aspects.

In micro-economic terms, we assess these tax relief measures from the point of view of the integration of job seekers (moving from unemployment to employment and the length of the employment spell).

In macro-economic terms, the aim is to assess the effects of these various measures on the job creation processes, bearing in mind wage negotiations, the heterogeneous nature of qualifications on the Belgian labour market, technological choices and the existence of other labour market policies (unemployment insurance, active labour market policies).
