Quality of life in cost-/utility calculation

Research project SS/D3/03 (Research action SS)

Persons :

Description :

The classic yardstick for the efficacy of healthcare is the number of person-years survived. This is no longer sufficient, as quality of life is increasingly being viewed as the most important criterion. There is a need for quality of life data at a variety of levels - macro level for policy orientation, meso level to allow a choice between alternatives, and the micro level to enable the patient to be kept better informed.
