    Duration: 1/1/1991-30/4/1994

Description :

The problem of linkage between the formal and informal sectors does not only arise with different types of service, but also with the different categories of beneficiary (e.g. problem children, handicapped children, people suffering from illnesses like cancer and mucoviscidosis).

The analysis is limited in the preliminary stage to services for the elderly. The aim of this part of the study is to analyse the role played by the informal and formal sectors in keeping elderly people in their homes. What are the elements that determine whether or not the various care bodies will be called in?
The aim is, taking account of the informal sector, to determine the conditions that promote keeping the elderly person in their home and what the impact of these are in terms of efficacy.
The analysis is based on survey data collected from elderly people living in a "private" dwelling and also those living in an old people's home.
