Research project SS/D8/01 (Research action SS)
The primary objective of the project is to identify the supply characteristics of three selected sectors: accountancy services, computer services and legal services.
Part I places the service sector in the context of the overall economy.
Part II carries out an intersectoral comparison of crucial supply variables such as intensity of human capital, economies of scale and market structure (e.g. degree of concentration, product differentiation, etc.).
The third part of the study seeks to identify Belgium's handicaps and advantages in these sectors, with a particular view to the creation of the European internal market and the possible liberalisation of trade in services. Special attention is paid to the variables of imperfect competition.
