Research project SS/S03 (Research action SS)
This resource centre provides access to demographic data for academic use. It is concerned first and foremost with data gathered by the National Institute for Statistics (the censuses of 1981 and 1991) and data from the National Register.
The data are provided anonymously by the institutions in question to the resource centre, which processes them into files suitable for academic use. In other words, the concrete function of the resource centre consists of the re-ordering of raw data, the elaboration of new variables, the removal of incomplete data, execution of the necessary consistency checks and the compilation of code books.
The support group also carries out, in collaboration with other research teams, demographic, geographical, sociological and other analyses on the data in question.
The data files and analysis programmes are made available to other universities and research institutions.
