Colloquium
The Belgian Presidency of the
EISC organised on Wednesday 26 April 2006
in
cooperation with the Belgian Federal Science Policy
Office and the
University of Leuven (KUL) in the Belgian Senate a
colloquium on space
law, entitled "Towards a Legal Framework for Space
Activities and
Applications: Belgian, Comparative and European Perspectives".
In the
morning, emphasis was laid on the different national
space laws, while
the
possibility of European initiatives was examined. The
afternoon session
was focused on the legal implications of the use of
space applications
in
policies related to transport, environment and security.
Delegations of
the national European parliaments, representatives
of the different
institutional players (ESA, European Commission, UN
Office for Outer
Space
Affairs, etc), legal experts and students specialising
in space law
participated in this colloquium.
