The Back to Belgium Grants of the federal Science Policy are intended to foster the return to Belgium of talented researchers doing R&D in a foreign research centre. Each year, the jury meets in May and proposes to the Minister in charge a list of candidates considered apt to receive a 24 months funding. The selection criteria are mainly based on the scientific level of the candidate, the quality and the feasibility of the research proposal, the post-doc expertise acquired abroad and its possible use and its contribution to the host unit as well as the career perspectives in Belgium.
In order to palliate any defection, a reserve list is also foreseen. The jury is constituted of Belgian and foreign experts. Its composition takes into account the diversity of the proposals.
To this day, the Back to Belgium Grants have benefited to nearly 100 researchers.
The call for proposals for the selection 2013 is closed.
The selection procedure is started. The candidates will be informed personally about the future developments. Please contact us for more information.
