Research context

This survey is part of the Website Monitor for FSI-websites which was started with by the Observatory from 2014 on. The idea is to monitor the websites by combining the analysis of webstatistics (via google analytics) to measure the behaviour of the surfers with an online survey to gather information on both the profiles of the visitors and their appreciations about the different aspects of the website.

Aim

With the help of programs such as google analytics, weblogexpert and others, the webstatistics (number of hits, visitors, popular pages, most popular keywords, etc.) of the different webpages are processed to make an annual report. The annual figures are each time compared with the figures of the previous years. This enables us to monitor evolutions and trends in how the websites are visited over the years.

Method of data collection

For some FSI’s the Visitors Observatory has been granted a direct access to the webstatistics via google analytics. For other FSI’s, the Observatory is annually sent a bulk datafile to be analysed.
