Antarctic: Belgian “Polar Platform”
The Belgian Polar Platform website meant to inform scientists, policy makers and the general public about:
> the Belgian history and science in the poles
> laws and treaties regulating polar activities and Belgium’s involvement
> the rules and obligations related to the planning of polar activities
> publications, workshops and events regarding polar activities

North Sea: Belgian North Sea research and the oceanographic research vessel Belgica
This programme aims to develop and consolidate the Belgian scientific expertise related to the North Sea ecosystem and to offer decision-makers the necessary scientific support for drawing up and carrying out North Sea related policies. Since 1970 the North Sea research progamme has been implemented in different multi-annual phases. The actual seventh phase of North Sea research (2006-2010) is imbedded in the programme Science for Sustainable Development (SSD).
