Edition 1/96

New Automated Yeast ID System

BCCM™/ALLEV 2 encompasses 96 physiological tests and morphological features in a fully automated and validated procedure. This cuts out the possibility of subjective interpretation and thereby increases reproducibility. An absorbency microplates reader is connected to a computer and similarity coefficients are used for identification, the specimen strain being compared to yeast species held in a reference database. The start-up database covers 697 reference strains and can be updated by the user. Between 300 and 500 yeast isolates can be tested and identified per technician month. This makes BCCM™/ALLEV 2 an ideal tool for ecological, clinical and food analyses, as well as taxonomic studies.
