Actinometers measure solar radiation, based on the heating power of this radiation. Thanks to this system, we can calculate the ratio between the overall solar radiation and the temperature difference measured between the black orb and the golden orb. A coil extends from these orbs which makes a needle react, which traces the observed values onto graph paper.
