ESA seeks new astronauts

The European Space Agency (ESA) is currently recruiting new Astronauts for the first time in 11 years.  

The vacancy  is closed and the selection process is running:

Receiving applications 31 March - 18 June 2021
Screening May - June 2021
Psychological Test Series July - November 2021
Practical and Psychometric testing January - April 2022
Medical Selection May - July 2022
Interview round 1 July - September 2022
Interview round 2 September 2022
Appointment and annauncement October 2022

To provide potential Belgian candidates with more information about this exciting opportunity, ESA and BELSPO organised an information event on the 60th anniversary of the first human in space: Monday the 12th of April from 11:00 to 12:00.

Did you always want to be an astronaut?

This video summarises advice given by ESA astronauts during the ESA Astronaut Careers Fair on 22 April 2021. Samantha Cristoforetti, Thomas Reiter and André Kuipers have all flown in space as ESA astronauts and offer their perspectives on the selection process and the work and life of an astronaut.
