Summary
- Objectives of the networking
The proposed networking project aims at creating a context for sharing information, techniques and best practices on the use of Linked Open Usable Data, in support of their application in the particularly complex multidisciplinary and multilingual Belgian Federal heritage context. It will invite international domain experts to assist us with this specific task. It will organise a workshop and final conference on the use of Linked Open Usable Data in a heritage context presenting the Linked Art initiative and CIDOC-CRM to the wider Belgian heritage sector. Additional work meetings will be held, and structured communication platforms will be set up to create sustainable contacts between the partners. At the end of the project, all partners will have a clear understanding of the requirements necessary to embrace Linked Open Usable Data in the context of the Linked Art model community. The Belgian institutions will especially be well positioned to implement the Linked Art model in support of future research projects, such as the follow-up on DIGIT03, which will benefit from the lessons learned.
- Long term perspective
The Belgian partners will continue to collaborate on the digitization of the Belgian heritage trough the DIGIT04 program. The results of the LOUD networking will be disseminated through the DIGIT04 network and should find their way to the daily practice in other FSIs. Collaboration with the J. Paull Getty Trust will continue after the project, as all partners have (or are about to) implemented the Getty’s controlled vocabularies.
The project will serve as a stepping stone to a more structured collaboration between all partners on other topics as well, such as the implementation of the International Image Interoperability Framework
