NGCAT R&D call 2024

The Council of Ministers has approved the thematic call for research and development proposals in the field of Next Generation Combat Air Technologies (NGCAT).

During a dedicated information session, the DEFRA team will present the objectives, the themes and modalities of the NGCAT R&D call for proposals to researchers from both the public and private sector.

The R&D call encompasses 4 technology domains: 

  • Structures and associated subsystems
  • Propulsion and accessories
  • Communication, Cyber, Avionics, embedded sensors and networks
  • Transversal Disruptive Enabling technologies

Deadlines:

  • Deadline Expressions of Interest: 7 June 2024 at 14h00
  • Deadline Full proposals: 25 September 2024 at 14h00

An information day will be held on 7 May 2024, starting at 13h30 at the Royal Military Academy. Registration is mandatory

3. Open theme SMEs - Research on innovative and future-oriented defence solutions with specific interest for CBRN-Medical Response, Decontamination and Protection and Weapon Systems - Improved ammunition systems
4. Advanced sensor technologies - Radar and (multi)-sensor systems
5. Materials - Protective characteristics

Second Call 2022
Covering four research themes:
1. Space weather for security and defence applications
2. 5/6G for military, security and crisis applications
3. Sustainable and "green" energy applications for military use
4. Preventive medicine for improved soldier fitness

First Call 2021
covering three research themes:
1. NEET: Employment of NEET (Not in Employment, Education or Training) for Belgian Defence
2. SEHS: Small Energy Harvesting systems for Defence applications
3. SPACE: Space technologies for Defence applications
