History

The programme “Society and Future” builds on a long tradition of research programmes in social sciences:

Programme "Social Cohesion" (2000-2004)
Programme "Prospective socioeconomic research" (1995-2000)

The programme aims at reinforcing the scientific potential in social sciences in Belgium. In addition, it aims at providing scientific evidence to support the decision making processes of federal government. In comparison to previous programmes, Society and Future has some new accents: renewal of themes, possibility to finance foreign researchers to aid at fulfilling the targets, explicit embedding of the gender dimension within the projects, international anchor (e.g. international seminars...).
