The publication of the update of the ESFRI (European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures) Roadmap in the field of energy is planned for the end of 2010. The first part of the conference is aimed to present: (i) the ESFRI process and the Roadmap; (ii) the landscape of energy research infrastructures and (iii) the global context and issues related to human resources and funding.

The programme includes a series of keynote speeches and project presentations (solar, wind, bio-energy, nuclear, CO2 capture, smart grids, etc), a panel discussion and a round table with high level actors from research, industry and policy. All of them aim to contribute to:

  • the development of a comprehensive strategy for research infrastructures in the energy field at pan-European level, in the framework of the European SET-Plan and of the ESFRI Roadmap ;
  • the analysis of the impact of research infrastructures (including e-infrastructures) on the implementation of energy policies and sustainable development;
  • the identification of possible actions to increase the human capital affecting the implementation of the energy research projects.

The conference aims to reach the scientific community, R&D and science policy managers, the energy sector, industry and policy decision makers.

ENERI 2010 is an event of the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the EU organised by the Belgian Science Policy Office, in cooperation with DG Research of the European Commission (cofunding by the FP7 Specific Programme "Capacities") and the Department of Economy, Science and Innovation of the Flemish Government (financial support of the Hercules Foundation).
