Other multilateral international cooperation

The international R&D co-operation was elaborated under different specific schemes and with different organisations.
The Belgian Science Policy Office plays the role of coordinator, participant and/or financier.

International networking of the FSI

• The calls aim to support the development and visibility of the FSIs expertise through their participation in networks with international partners and to provide a framework for structural cooperation with countries/institutions involved in selected proposals.

IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change)

• Belspo hosts the national focal point for the IPCC and thus plays a crucial role in coordinating Belgium's involvement in the IPCC. The national focal point serves as the main communication channel between the IPCC and the Belgian government.

OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development)

• OESO is an international organisation that works to build better policies for better lives. The goal is to shape policies that foster prosperity, equality, opportunity and well-being for all.

UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization)

• There is a BELSPO partnership with UNESCO through the programmes 'Man and Biosphere' (MAB), the World Heritage (WHP) and the Inter­governe­mental Oceano­graphic Commission (IOC).
  

ERAfrica

• ERAfrica is a European Union (EU) project aimed at promoting a unified European approach to collaborating with Africa in the field of science and technology research for innovation and sustainable development. This is part of the 'AFRICA-EU' partnership JAES.

ERANet-LAC

• ERANet-LAC is a network of the European Union and associated countries and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC). The network supports the implementation of the Joint Initiative for Research and Innovation. CELAC and European countries organise joint calls for research projects. his is part of the 'CELAC-EC' partnership JIRI.
