BELSPO's Research Programme and infrastructures Department provides funding for research activities in support of federal competencies and international commitments made by the federal authorities. In this context, the Department prepares and manages a portfolio of funding actions including various research programmes, research infrastructures and science-policy interfaces, and participates in national and international cooperation initiatives.
Polar Conference 2022 Arctica-Antarctica
was organised on 22 September 2022 by the Belgian Science Policy Office (BELSPO), the Egmont Royal Institute for International Relations, the Association of Polar Early Career Scientists (APECS) and the Belgian National Committee of (Ant)Arctic Research (BNCAR).

ASM3 Belgium
In order to increase cooperation in Arctic science, Science Ministers from 27 governments (including the Belgian State Secretary in charge of Science Policy), the European Union and representatives from Arctic indigenous peoples' organisations, gathered in Tokyo for the 3rd Arctic Science Ministerial (ASM3 , 8-9 May 2021). Our Secretary of State intervened within Theme 2, Understand: Enhance understanding and prediction capability on Arctic environmental and social systems and its global impact.
